In Memory of John E. Breaman
John E. Breaman, age 87, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the MercyOne Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Father William A. McCarthy will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery of Sioux City, Iowa.
A Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the Memorial Service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa.

John Edward Breaman, the son of Neil and Marie (Lentz) Breaman, was born on August 11, 1935, in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in Sioux City and received his education at St. Joseph Catholic School in Sioux City.
In 1953 John served in the Army Infantry until 1957. In May of 1957 John was united in marriage to Donna Bousquet. The couple were blessed with three children: Robert, Randy, and Rick. The couple shared forty plus years until her passing in April of 1999.
John worked for Buck’s Bootery in Sioux City from 1957 until he bought the company and changed the name to Jon’s Bootery in 1968. He owned and operated the Bootery until 1979.
On October 18, 2003, John married Leona (Lansink) Hoaglund. With this union John gained three bonus children: Elizabeth, Barb, and Wayne. At the time he worked for Piper, Jaffery & Hopwood, both Polk Directories and the City Directories as a marketing manager until his retirement in 2019.
John and Leona called Ida Grove, Iowa, home at the present where he was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove. In his younger years he volunteered his time as a church BINGO leader. John also enjoyed following the stock market, watching television, and trips to Las Vegas.
Survivors include his wife Leona Breaman of Ida Grove, IA; his three sons: Robert Breaman of Fort Worth, TX, Randy Breaman of Polk City, IA and Rick Breaman of West Virginia; bonus children Elizabeth Ulrich of Ida Grove, IA, Barb Hancock of Overland Park, KS and Wayne Hoaglund of Ida Grove, IA; three grandchildren: Tyler, Abby, and Tessa; 5 step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; brothers Joe (Romayne) Breaman of Irma, WI, Jim (Connie) Breaman of South Sioux City, NE and Jeff Breaman of Arvada, CO; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents Neil and Marie Breaman; first wife Donna Breaman; brother Jerry Breaman; sisters Sandra (Dan) Detches and Sally (Roy, Jr.) Johnson.
