Margaret Ann Schug, the daughter of Earle and Josephine (Schmitz) Zimmerman, was born on December 2, 1934, in Odebolt, Iowa. She grew up in Odebolt and graduated from Odebolt High School with the class of 1952.

On May 4, 1953, Margaret was united in marriage to Arlynn Schug on an Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. The couple welcomed six children: the twins Christy and Carmen, Mark, Charles, Kathy, and Steven.

Margaret was a stay-at-home mother and she took pride in raising her children in their family home in Ida Grove, Iowa. From 2010 to 2023 Margaret handmade 47,600 rosaries and donated them to missionaries around the world. A devout catholic, she found joy in supporting numerous Catholic charities and making rosaries as part of her patronage to her faith in her Lord and Savior.

In her free time, Margaret enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower beds, attending church, making rosaries, dancing on her roller skates in her youth, taking cruises with her family, traveling to Europe, the Holy Land, Medugorje, Japan, Fatima, and Hawaii. She also loved chatting on the phone with her family and baking her delectable famous homemade buns and cinnamon rolls.

Margaret was lovingly nicknamed by her grandchildren as  “Grandma Putz”. She loved to share her stories and play along with her grandchildren while all the time being quite witty.

Left to carry on her memory are her children: Christy (Douglas) Walsh of Topeka, KS, Mark Schug of Riverhead, NY, Charles (Jan) Schug of Ida Grove, IA, Kathy (William) Stehr of Odebolt, IA and Steven (Nancy) Schug of Ida Grove, IA; son-in-law Francis Morehouse of Taunton, MA; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren with one on the way; extended family and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Earle and Josephine Zimmerman; husband Arlynn Schug; and daughter Carmen Morehouse.
