Bonnie Jean Peekenschneider, the daughter of Gerald and Alvina (Reich) Fisher, was born on November 13, 1953, in Mason City, Iowa. She grew up in Mason City and received her education from Mason City High School graduating with the class of 1972.  At the age of 15, Bonnie obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification and began her employment with various nursing homes.

On October 31, 1980, Bonnie was united in marriage to Rodney Peekenschneider in the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Aurelia, Iowa. The couple made their home in Aurelia and were later blessed with a son, Tyler. While living in Aurelia, Bonnie first worked for and traveled with Baumann Shows and later was employed with Sunset Knoll Care and Rehab Center.

In 1996 the family moved to Lake Park, Iowa, where Bonnie was employed at the Lake Park Care Center. After she left her CNA career, Bonnie then drove a pilot car for a while. In 2019 Bonnie and Rodney moved to Ida Grove, Iowa, to be closer to family.

When Tyler was growing up, Bonnie enjoyed coaching his youth soccer teams. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles, completing crosswords, reading, shopping, and tending to her flowers. Bonnie and Rodney especially enjoyed celebrating Halloween, which was also their anniversary date. They dressed up every year and hosted haunted houses for their friends and family to enjoy.
